Here Come the Aliens!

As part of our ‘Democracy Day’ we first reminded ourselves about British values and our rights and responsibilities.

We then learned about what happens inside the Houses of Parliament and the roles that different members have.

To reflect on what we had learned about democracy and fairness, we decided to hold a vote by secret ballot on which story to have read to us.

We enjoyed cooking pear crumble using pears freshly picked from our very own Birchwood orchard.

We practised our weighing, cutting and mixing skills and the results were delicious.

'I can't wait to do some more cooking. I'm going to help cook at home to get better,' Isaac.

We were very excited to attend our first tea party of the year for achieving our reading target as a whole class.

Mrs Day read us 'Guess How Much I Love You' by Sam McBratney and 'Snow Bears' by Martin Waddell and the delicious cakes were supplied by Mrs Tucker.

Eggciting Eggs

This week we were amazed to receive a letter from our missing dinosaur. After leaving our school he went on a trip to Drayton Manor where he enjoyed going on the rides and visiting the zoo. Dino told us that he had discovered lots of eggs at the zoo and we were delighted to find that he had sent some to our school so that we could find out what was inside them. We kept them in an incubator to keep them warm and by Monday afternoon one of them had hatched. We discovered that there were chicks inside the eggs and we now have 8 special visitors who we are going to be looking after for the next few weeks.

Romp in the Swamp

After the half term break we made an ‘eggciting’ discovery in our outdoor classroom. Lots of our things had been knocked over, there were some huge footprints and finally we discovered an enormous egg inside a large nest. Miss Aston carefully bought the egg inside and put it in our discovery area. We can’t wait to find out what hatches out of it.

Winter Wonderland

Reception had snow much fun on their trip to the Snowdome last week.

The children took Boris the Polar Bear, who is visiting us from London Zoo on his way to see his mum (Mrs Bear) in the Arctic.  Boris wanted to know all about the weather in the Arctic, so we thought it was a good idea to take him to the Snowdome.
