On Friday 27th May, all our children and staff took part in our second annual whole school Sponsored Walk and Run event. Last year’s event was a real success and this year did not disappoint either!
Staff and children in all year groups (including our friends from Birchwood Staff and children in all year groups (including our friends from Birchwood Pre-School) had a time slot which they tried to walk and/or run as many laps of our school grounds as they could. Each lap was exactly half a kilometre and the children received special stamps from our School Councillors for each half lap completed.
As an extra incentive this year some of our special book prize tokens were presented to children in each year group who managed to complete the most laps. There were also extra tokens which were awarded to children who showed excellent effort and resilience. Well done to all our book prize winners, but also a special well done to everyone who took part.
The children were all walking and running to help raise money for ‘MIND’ – our chosen charity of the year and to support our school fund, which we use to subsidise school trips and events.
A big thank you to all our parents who donated money to support this important event. Thank you also to all the staff and children who supported the day and who helped set up and pack away our course. Our staff and children were brilliant and put in maximum effort - well done. Everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves, although I suspect there might be a few aching muscles in the morning!
