The Queen's Platinum Jubilee

I hope that all our families and friends had a great half term and joined in with the rest of the Nation in celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

With the majority of the celebrations falling during half term, we made the decision to celebrate this wonderful achievement of service together as a school on Thursday

All week our children have been taking part in various activities and learning experiences linked to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee including creating a wonderful art piece with our local artist in residence Darrell Wakelam. Over two days, our Year 3 and 4 children all worked together to create a one off piece to commemorate this special achievement. This will be displayed proudly in our school for many years to come. My thanks to Darrell for sharing his support and expertise again this year. We always look forward to his visits.

Mrs Bayliss and Mrs Davis also planted a special tree in our school grounds alongside two of our established trees. One of the trees produces red berries in the winter, the other white blossom in spring and our new tree a blue flower in the summer, providing a red, white and blue all year round. The area will be marked by a special plaque commemorating this unique event.

Our school, staff and children all looked brilliant decked out in Red, White and Blue. The weather was also very kind to us and ensured that we could all enjoy our Tea Party outside together.
