On Friday 22nd May, the Year 6 children had a session with Healthy Futures about the importance of sleep. After a busy half term, this was a really welcomed session where we were taught the importance of the amount of sleep but also how to prepare for sleep.
We learned about melatonin and how things can affect the quality of sleep that we have. We now know that sleep is vital for keeping our bodies healthy: it helps repair our bodies from our day, helps our body grow and develop, and helps our brain function. It was enlightening when we counted our current amount of sleep compared to the recommended amount! We will certainly be adopting more healthy sleep habits.
With the ducklings visiting Year 1, Year 6 couldn’t resist playing with them once their exams were over! The children loved stroking the ducklings and watching them splash around in their paddling pool.
As part of their maths revision, Year 6 made the most of the sunshine to get outside and compete in a maths trail around the grounds of the school. They worked together to find and solve challenging reasoning problems which had been hidden all over the school!
