Summer 2
Enchanted Woodland
Today we have been using arrays to show our multiplication skills.
Year 1 and 2 children were all very excited to take part in our Sports Day afternoon and performed brilliantly, giving their best effort in all of their races. It was heartening to see all our children supporting one another and feeling proud of their own achievements. Well done all!
In Maths Year 1 have created and described arrays. We then used our 'X' sign to create multiplication calculations.
Summer 1
Rio de Vida
This week, our Year 1 children proudly shared some of the exciting learning they have enjoyed throughout the year during their class assembly. They sang, danced, and confidently recited poetry — what a fantastic performance! Well done to Elm and Hazel Class for such a wonderful showcase of their hard work and enthusiasm.
Today we role played a story called ‘Shrinking Habitats’. Our classroom was covered in sheets of newspaper which represented a different habitat. As we listened to the story, the newspaper/habitats slowly disappeared as trees were cut down, litter was dropped, houses and roads were built and leaves and grass were removed.
In Maths this week we have been using non-standard units of measure. We used hands to measure objects around the classroom and paper clips and cubes to measure pieces of ribbon.
We’ve returned from Easter and our tulips have grown incredibly well - the children are really proud of our planting. We will be looking at the different stages of growth of our flowering plants in the coming months, but for now we are enjoying their bright, vibrant colours.
As part of our Geography topic, the children have looked at an enormous map of the world, locating the seven continents on it. They have also learned a rather catchy song - I’m sure they will share it with you!
