Road Trip USA!

Year 3 began their science learning for this half term by recapping the parts of a plant. We explored our outdoor environment, looking for different types of plants and trees and named the different parts. We found apple trees, pear trees, a holly bush, dandelions, and much more!

Year 3 had their first French lesson this week! We started by finding France on a map of Europe, coloured in the French flag and then practised greetings like salut, bonjour and bonne après-midi! To show off our fantastic learning, we created colourful French-themed bunting.

To support their learning about America, Year 3 used the huge world map to locate continents, the equator and hemispheres.  We then used the atlases back in the classroom to support us when locating North America, South American and the United Kingdom on a world map.

What a cool start to the term we have had! Thank you Mr G for our delicious ice-creams! 

Our first day in Year 3 has been busy! We have been creative making our own USA flags, learning fascinating facts about the stars and stripes along the way.  The adventure didn’t stop there – we crawled through the scorching desert, surfed the waves in Hawaii, weaved between towering New York skyscrapers, and leapt over snapping alligators in Florida! It was a fun-filled, all-American day to spark curiosity and set the stage for our new learning journey.

What a fantastic start to Year 3 we have had! This morning when we arrived in school, a large brown suitcase had been dropped off at the office with Year 3's name on it! We had no idea who it belonged to, or where it had come from. We soon realised the suitcase belonged to Paddington Bear! We didn't know where he was going on holiday, so one by one we looked at items inside and thought about where he could be going! Inside were sunglasses, gloves, a baseball glove, a Canadian pin, a cowboy hat and neck scarf and the American flag! The children were fantastic at inferring where he may be going, and luckily they received confirmation from a letter at the bottom of the case that confirmed Paddington was going to North America! It was our job now to research facts about North America to help Paddington when he goes on his trip!
