Why Do Squirrels Hide Their Nuts

Autumn 1

We All Belong Here

Our Teddy Bears’ Picnic was un-bear-lievably fun! The children enjoyed a lovely picnic with their cuddly friends, tucking into the delicious banana sandwiches they had made that morning. Afterwards, we danced, sang songs and had a teddy-rific time with our furry companions. What a beary special day full of smiles, music and happy memories!

Today, Reception took their first trip to the food technology room to make banana sandwiches ready for a Teddy Bear's picnic. Earlier in the week, the children had made an algorithm for how to make banana sandwiches.  They followed these instructions in order.

They buttered a slice of bread using the back of a spoon, then used the bridge method to cut a banana into slices.  The children put the slices carefully on one side of the bread and folded it over to complete their sandwich.  They did a great job.

Our EYFS children have had a fantastic time learning about the important roles of our community helpers!

We were delighted to welcome our local fire service, who showed the children around their fire engine and taught us some very important fire safety messages. The children were fascinated to see the equipment and learn more about how firefighters help to keep us safe.

We also welcomed members of the police, who talked to us about their role in our community and how they help people every day. The children particularly enjoyed trying on the police vests!

To finish our exciting week, we had a visit from a paramedic, who showed us some of the equipment she uses to help find out what might be wrong with someone who is unwell.

It has been a wonderful opportunity for the children to meet some of the people who help keep our community safe, while learning through real-life experiences. A huge thank you to all of our visitors for spending time with us!

A very warm welcome to all our new EYFS children and their families! It has been wonderful to see our youngest children settling into school, making new friends and beginning to explore their exciting environment.
