Autumn 1

Everyday Materials

In DT we explored the journey of wheat from seed to harvest, learning how it is made into flour and then into bread. Using the skills of measuring, mixing and kneading, we then made a dough. Finally, after leaving it to rise we shaped the pitta breads and put them into the oven to cook.

Mr G surprised the children with a chilly but delicious treat on Monday afternoon. All children had yummy ice creams! Thank you Mr G!

Mr Bailey has visited us in school to make sure we start the year right by knowing how to stay safe online. We had a wonderful time discussing and learning all about how to keep safe on a range of devices and what to do if we ever felt unsafe. 

It's the beginning of a new school year and the children who have come up from Reception to Year 1 have blown us away with their excitement and attitude to learning. Here are a few photos of them hard at work today. We all agree, Year 1 is a great place to be!
